How To // An Icy At Home Ritual

The seasons are quickly changing, and the short, cool days of fall are almost here - making it the perfect time to switch up your facial routine to extend your summer glow! We’ve always been big believers in facial massage, but it might not quite as obvious as what adding in an icy at-home facial can do.

Ice facials work by improving circulation and blood flow. When cold temperatures are applied to the skin, blood vessels constrict, reducing puffiness and inflammation. The body responds to the cold by sending an increased flow of warm blood carrying oxygen and important skin supportive nutrients to the area.

Whether morning or night, this ritual can result in a firm, tightened complexion, reduced pore size and balanced oil production.

Morning ritual: Replace the lukewarm water you usually wake up to with an invigorating morning ritual that reduces puffiness and refreshes tired skin after a sleepless night. Apply ice cubes in circular motions to the skin and under eye area for as long as you can manage - work up from 30 seconds to 15 or 20 minutes. If you’re prone to flushing or have sensitive skin, wrap ice cubes in a paper towel or muslin cloth. Finish with an application of our Nourishing Facial Toner and Moisturizer and a spritz of our Flora Everyday Face + Body Mist - you’re ready to tackle the day.

Nighttime ritual: Massage our Nourishing Cleansing Balm into skin and remove in circular motions with lukewarm water. Post-cleanse, splash face with cold water or repeat the ice cube ritual from above and gently pat dry. Warm 2-4 drops of our Nourishing Facial Oil between palms and press fingertips into face from the jawline, moving upwards. Don’t forget your neck, massaging upwards in vertical strokes.

The benefits? Toned, even and radiant skin, plus the peace of mind this relaxing ritual will bring you.
